Hot or Snot
So what original bands in the area are upcoming or just plain hot?
For me, Heartless Bastards are on the steady rise. With the release of their album, The Mountain, on Fat Possum records. Not only are they local and tour nationally, they share the same label as Ohio's Black Keys and blues veteran R. L. Burnside.
I would give Kudos to Wussy as well. Everything I have heard of the new album sounds great and they tour nationally as well.
I have heard good things about the Buffalo Killers and The Sundresses seem consistent.

Anyone else? Turn me on and tune me in....

CScott posted a playlist of a band called Black Keys here: http://grooveriver.com/CScott/playlists/16

I'm digging them -- definitely not snot . I think it's a two-piece? I like it.

Yeah, I like The Black Keys too. Hey Charles, can you chime in with some details about them?

I'm also digging the Kentucky Struts. I've posted a couple of their songs on my profile. I think they're tight, good song writers, and have a nice sound.

I was dissapointed in D. Auerbach's solo stuff. It didn't sound bad but lacked the strong song writing that makes the black keys so appealing. I can't wait for things to slow down in my world around Nov. so I can get my hands dirty with local music again.

I love Heartless Bastards. The singer talks fine, but sings so different!! I love her. It's a mystery!! I could listen to her all day.
