HOW TO: Photos

You can create multiple photo albums here on Groove River.

First, log in.

Next, click and pull down the "Groove Tools" menu (it's in the second row of menus at the top of the page), and select the "Photos" item.

This will load a page with a couple of options, which also shows all your photo albums. To start with, we'll focus on the two main options: "Create New Photo Album" and "Photo Album Settings". I already have one private album; I'm going to create another.

Here are what the two main options do:

Create New Photo Album:

Click to create a new album. Here you will give it a name, a description, and select who can search it, who can see it, who can comment on it, and who can tag the photos in it. These settings can be changed at a later date as well. The default options allow everyone to search and see the album, but only registered users can comment and tag the album.

Photo Album Settings:

This option lets you change the CSS styling (if you're so inclined), and chose whether albums will be displayed in a tab on your profile or in the side gutter.

Creating Your First Photo Album

Using the Groove Tools menu, go to the Photos page. There, click "Create New Photo Album" button. In my example, I'll create a new album called "A Catchy Photo Album Name", as shown below:

Adding Photos To Your Photo Album

Once you've got an album set up, you can begin to upload photos. As soon as your album is created, a screen loads giving you step by step directions. Click "Step 1: Add a File" and you can choose one or more files from your hard drive. In the example below, I've chosen three files to upload. Clicking "Step 2: Upload the File(s)" will send them on their way!

The uploader will inform you when all image uploads are complete:

Your images are now uploaded and published on Groove River, and are available to viewers of your profile as well as from the main "Photos" menu.

Managing Your Photo Album

You can change the order that images appear in your album, give your images titles and descriptions, rotate, delete, and otherwise modify your images.

Click the "Edit Photo Album" link for the album you want to edit. In the image below, you will note that I now have a new album called "A Catchy Photo Album Name", which contains no images yet:

From here I can click "View Photo Album" to see all the images in this album, "Move Up" or "Move Down" to change the order of my albums, "Edit Photo Album" to add/delete photos from the album, or "Delete Photo Album" to delete the entire album and the images it contains.

I'm going to click "Edit Photo Album".

The page show above shows the images contained in the photo album. Choose "Add New Photos" to upload additional images to this album. Choose "Edit Photo Album Info" to change the album name, description, and privacy options.

For each image, you can add a title, a description, delete the photo, choose it as the album cover, or move it to a different photo album. You can also rotate the image if necessary.
